Love Wrapped in Joy: Valentine’s Gifts for Kids
My kids, especially my 10.5-year-old daughter, are enchanted by the idea of celebrating Valentine’s Day. Thankfully, their excitement centers around “family and friends” rather than a “boyfriend/girlfriend,” and they consider me and their dad as their Valentines 😊. To live up to my title, every Valentine’s Day morning, I put together a little gift for them accompanied by a note stressing the significance of love every day, shared with those they hold dear. I remind them that love takes various forms – a handmade card, a sticky hug, or a laughter-filled afternoon. These special moments, I emphasize, go beyond February 14th and are the true essence of love in our lives. While I don’t particularly endorse the consumerism associated with the day, I can’t deny the joy on their faces when they receive a thoughtful gift. Lately, with the influx of invitations to various Valentine’s Day parties, it seems I’m always on the lookout for good, decent presents.
Here are some of my top Valentine’s Day “gifts” that either I’ve purchased, or my kids have received, and I absolutely loved them:
Kids Digital Video Camera, 32g SD Card Included – Pink or Blue – Age, 3-8: Definitely a fantastic camera for YOUNGER kids. Comes in both ‘girl’ and ‘boy’ colors. Has a LOT of really great features which keeps kids busy with three included GAMES, and they work surprisingly well for being on a camera. Comes bundled with a 32 GB MicroSD card and has a USB reader for easy transfer to the computer. Rechargeable battery built in which charges with micro-USB cable. Overall, 10/10 Highly recommend!Karaoke Machine for Kids, Age 3 – 6: Once again, a gift for the little ones, comes with two charging cords, connects to Bluetooth for speaker, and handheld microphone has lights for dancing. I got this for our then kindergartener and she loved it. It’s easy to load up music, using the TF card slot. The pulsating lights are fun. Oh, and rechargeable battery is a nice feature.Slime Kit, Age 8 – 12: If you have a kid, especially a girl between the age of 7 to 10, you know how obsessed they are with slime kits – this is a perfect little present. Comes in a heavy-duty box and is easy open/close. Colors and scents are perfect and has everything to make different quality slime. We made 4 slimes and still have enough supplies left over to do it again in the future. Highly recommended.Winter Hat Gloves Scarf Set, Beanie, Neck Warmer & Mittens, Age 3 – 14: TOk, I confess that this “gift” was bought more coz she needed it, LOL but still it surprised her and is a good purchase. The material is soft and durable! The colors are bright and is so cute against the white snow.Soft Cozy, Flannel, 50 X 60 Glow in The Dark Blanket, Any Age: You know very well, no kid can have enough blankets, loved this one – it is very soft! The glow in the dark aspect was amazing and pleasantly surprising part was that it is also very bright! HD Touchscreen Smartwatch, 26 Games, Camera, Music, Pedometer, Ages 5-12: I wanted to get something for my son which would be useful and yet feel like a toy – this touchscreen watch was perfect for his little hands. Truly an interactive Smartwatch with camera located on the front, multiple games, a flashlight (torch), microphone recorder and easy to take selfies with a push of the button. It charged fully very quickly and was still charged the next day after being used for hours. The watch band has so many notches to accommodate different sized wrists. There are also two loops to hold any excess band tight on the wrist. All in all, this watch was such a hit with a six-year-old.
